The ‘Time Is Yours, The Clock is Mine’ gives the Venetian courtesan in Federico Andahazi’s novel The Anatomist a voice . In the book Sofia stares at the clock anytime her ‘client’, the protagonist, tries to engage her in conversation and only speaks to tell him his time is up. When Anne sings this song, she sees this clock and somehow knows how Sofia and girls like her have felt through the ages and still often do.
